My
working background has been in health and social care
and presently I work with people who have disabilities
one day a week. I trained in Gestalt; Person centered
counselling, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Sand
Play Therapy. I am a member of the British Association
for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work to their
code of ethics. I have been counselling since 2001,
beginning with bereavement, moving on to working with
groups, adults and young adults exploring issues such
as anger, self esteem, anxiety and confidence. I worked
voluntarily as a counsellor for adults & children
and a then a supervisor with Cruse Bereavement Care
for eight years.
I work supporting bereaved families with an organisation
called SWinGS. And more recently for Torbay care trust
supporting carers, within the carers emotional support
scheme and in a carer evaluator role.
I also have a small private practice where I offer
1-1 counselling.
I
am registered as a carer and attend Brixham Management
Team meetings when required as a carer representative.
In September of 2009 I took on the facilitation of
Brixham Carers Support Group Meetings.
I believe in continuing my own development in all
areas of life and attend therapy, workshops and courses
which keeps my way of working fresh and current.
