Body Process Psychotherapy
Whilst
counselling and psychotherapy can be "talking"
therapies, body psychotherapy works more with your
body. Therefore really working with a person's whole
being. For me it's about what is really going on within
me as opposed to what I think is going on for me.
Talk
to anyone involved in Body Therapy, e.g. those who
have received it, and the practitioners and you cannot
fail to see their excitement and passion for something
that is so special.
Body
Work can offer a truly effective treatment, especially
clients that feel and are 'stuck' and those with deeply
buried issues.
Body
Therapy is a method of helping men and women keep
their lives in balance by means of listening to their
bodies and staying grounded.
There
are times when we lose our sense of self. Times when
our head and body do not seem to be in connected and
our head is constantly chattering unhelpful advice!
We end up wondering who is the 'real' me, and desperately
seeking some "thing" to fill the gap.
Through
body-therapy we re-connect with our bodies, our sense
of balance and our core, by working in an active way
with the questions "who am I in relation to self?"
and "what is my core?"
We do this by exploring the development of body shape
and structure and how we use our bodies as a means
of defending and armouring our inner selves.
This
is always done in practical, hands on way, underpinned
afterwards by formal theoretical inputs and experiential
movement and breath work. The practical work can be
at times painful, mind blowing, revealing and even
joyful but always held and supported with experience
and compassion.
Talk
to anyone involved in Body Therapy, e.g. those who
have received it, and the practitioners and you cannot
fail to see their excitement and passion for something
that is so special and greatly increases the possibility
for fast, effective healing.
